"I can't do this!"...After the KDB explosion, 'sniper colleagues' → Belgium national team announced its retirement

Kevin De Bruyne, who symbolizes Belgium's golden generation, announced his retirement from the national team in anger at his teammate who couldn't do his part.

Belgian media HLN reported on the 11th (Korea Standard Time) that The Bruyne expressed displeasure with the current Belgian national team and said he would quit the national team.
Belgium, led by coach Domenico Tedesco, lost 0-2 in the second Group A match of the UEFA Nations League against France in the 2024-2025 season at the Grupama Stadium in Descine, France, on the 10th.

Belgium, which won 3-1 at home against Israel on the 7th, lost helplessly to France in an away game in France without taking any chances.

The Bruyne started as a central attacking midfielder and played full-time, but his teammates missed the opportunity and swallowed the disappointment.

Based on the soccer statistics company Potmob, The Bruyne created a total of three chances on the day and showed high influence in the attack scene, including one effective shot, four touches in the opponent's box, two accurate crosses, and six successful long passes.

After the scoreless defeat, De Bruyne seemed frustrated and made a determined statement after the game.  메이저놀이터

According to the media, The Bruyne continued to talk in a post-match broadcast interview, hugging his face as if he was annoyed. The media said, "The Bruyne was angry when he answered at the interview. The anger was visible. His body movements explain a lot."

"We had six guys on the defense. We didn't get through and the second half was the same. We were behind," said De Bruyne, who said "yes, I don't know if France did better."

"I wonder what you saw in the game. It's not a transition, it's a matter of our style of play and players who don't play their part," he added.

When asked about improvements, The Bruyne said, "I can't tell you here. I told my team at half-time. I won't repeat it in front of the media," but added, "We have to be better in every way. The standard is with the best team. If you don't treat it as the best, it's not good enough. And we have to put everything into it on the field. Some players didn't do this either."

Over the past decade, Belgium, including myself, has entered a golden generation. However, 10 years later, no players are left except for De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku.

"You can accept that we weren't that good," The Bruyne wrote. "He's also the one I've said that in the past. But the others are unacceptable. That's how I did it in Genk at 18. Now I'm 33 and I can't do this anymore."

Then, a media outlet introduced a video. In the video, it was revealed that De Bruyne told Belgian Football Association director Frank Bercowteran several times, "I'm quitting."

The media outlet said, "We have to see what exactly The Bruyne said to Berkauteran and whether he will retire or not. It's nothing new that he reveals his feelings right away when something is uncomfortable. He has been like that since he was young," adding, "We have to watch his situation for now."

The Bruyne is a Belgian legend who has scored 30 goals and 49 assists in 108 A matches so far.

The Bruyne, who made his A-match debut in August 2010, led Belgium's golden age, including the quarterfinals of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil and the third place in the 2018 World Cup in Russia. He had excellent teammates on both sides of offense and defense, including himself, Eden Hazard, Lukaku, Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld and Axel Witchell.

However, Belgium started to suffer a setback after the quarterfinals at Euro 2020. The golden generation, who is already in their 30s, has either retired or lost skills. Eden Hazard retired early due to poor management.

The 2022 World Cup in Qatar ultimately resulted in a division. In Group F, copyright, Morocco, and Croatia, and Belgium, which were in the same group with each other, held their first match against copyright, but lost to Morocco in a shock 0-2 loss. Lukaku missed numerous opportunities against Croatia, which needed to win, and suffered the humiliation of being eliminated from the group stage for the first time in 24 years since the 1998 World Cup in France.

The Bruyne has led the team as captain of the Belgian national team since the World Cup, but he has not even seen the major championship trophy in Euro 2024, staying in the round of 16.

At the club level, The Bruyne has a big career, including six UEFA Champions League and six Premier League wins, but the national team seems to be coming to an end due to continued frustration.
